Our committment to the envirnoment
Sustainability and the community have been key priorities from the outset in the design of Jandakot City. Quality, efficiency and environmentally sound principles have been integrated into every part of the development process.

Preparing the site: flora and fauna
Prior to the recent clearing of bushland at Jandakot Airport for development we undertook extensive trapping and relocation of native bandicoots (Issodon obesulus) and various reptiles.

The trapped animals were relocated to other undisturbed bushland areas which are earmarked as permanent conservation areas and will not be developed. Clearing was undertaken in such a way as to direct retreating animals towards nearby bush which will not be cleared.

A number of grass trees (Xanthorrhoea preissii) and zamia palms (Macrozamia riedlei) were also salvaged from the area of clearing and have been replanted into rehabilitation areas on site. The remaining vegetation was cleared and mulched - this will be used for landscaping throughout the development site.

Seedling Bank
As part of our committment to utilising native vegetation throughout the development, a seedling nursery has been started. The seedlings will be replanted when construction and works are complete.
