In 2010, CSR Viridian announced plans to re-locate its glass and glazing business from its current site in Myaree to a larger state-of-the-art facility at Jandakot City.
Special Projects Manager Kim Calderwood says the move to the new 12,500sqm factory was a major decision to ensure the company was well placed competitively to meet customer needs and technology demands of the industry into the future.
“Jandakot City has two significant benefits for us. Distribution is a major part of our business and the estate is in an excellent location at the intersection of Roe Highway and the Kwinana Freeway with easy access to all our metropolitan and regional customers,” he said “With future expansion in mind, the land zoning provides us with far greater development flexibility than we had at our old site, where we needed to work in with local council bylaws.”
The high tech factory with its 900sqm of office space carries a large amount of stock glass manufactured in Sydney and Melbourne. It is served with cutting edge delivery technology not seen before in Western Australia.traffic management was an important design consideration of the 26,000sqm site and the design flexibility permitted by Jandakot City site has been critical to the success of the outcome.
“The completed building has been delivered on time and a large number of our specialist items have been incorporated into the building works done by Jandakot City, thereby enabling swift start up to our operations.”
“This is the right location for us and we are feeling very confident of our future as a result,” Kim said.
